He got picked off. He came up empty when the Green Bay Packers needed a big play.Nothing like his usual work against the Chicago Bears.Rodgers looked shaky in Green Bay’s 24-17 loss to Chicago on Sunday Trace McSorley Jersey , throwing an interception for the first time since September and failing to throw a touchdown pass for the first time in more than a year.Coupled with Minnesota’s 41-17 victory against Miami, the Packers (5-8-1) were eliminated from playoff contention for the second straight year. The outcome also clinched the NFC North title for the Bears (10-4), who blew a 20-0 lead in a Week 1 loss to Rodgers and company in Green Bay.“Obviously, there will be some changes in the offseason,” said Rodgers, who turned 35 on Dec. 2. “We’ll finish this year out the right way and then we’ll look to the future, which I think is still really bright in Green Bay.”Rodgers has towered over one of the NFL’s most heated rivalries for years, directing Green Bay to 17 wins in his previous 21 starts against Chicago — including a victory over the Bears in the NFC championship game in the 2010 season at Soldier Field. He had 1,043 yards passing, 10 touchdowns and no interceptions in his past four games against Chicago. But the two-time NFL MVP was never able to get into a rhythm in his first loss at Chicago’s longtime home since September 2010. He finished 25 for 42 for 274 yards and an uncharacteristically low passer rating of 68.9.“It’s a little bit of everything Kyler Murray Jersey ,” interim coach Joe Philbin said. “Sometimes it’s been the protection, sometimes it’s been the routes, sometimes it’s been the throws. I don’t know that it’s just Aaron missing throws. Certainly, there’s some throws I’m sure he wish he had back today. I think that’s kind of common for a quarterback.”Playing behind a banged-up offensive line, Rodgers was on the run for much of the day and was sacked five times. He misfired on a potential touchdown pass to Equanimeous St. Brown midway through the second quarter, and threw long on a deep pass intended for Marquez Valdes-Scantling in the fourth.Asked about the passing game this year, Rodgers said he has missed some throws, but “some of the ones you probably think are missed throws maybe we are just not on the same page.”Rodgers also said his groin tightened up on him near the end of the first half and it bothered him “a little bit” the rest of the day. But he plans to start Green Bay’s last two games, even with the Packers out of playoff contention.“I’d like to be out there, lead us the last two weeks http://www.cardinalsauthorizedshops.com/authentic-byron-murphy-jersey ,” he said.Even with Rodgers struggling, the Packers headed into the fourth quarter with a chance to win. But Mitchell Trubisky tossed a tiebreaking 13-yard touchdown pass to Trey Burton and Cody Parkey kicked a 24-yard field goal to give the Bears a 24-14 lead with 6:43 left.Green Bay then drove down the field to the Chicago 9. On third down, Rodgers tried for tight end Jimmy Graham over the middle, but the ball got tipped into the air and Eddie Jackson picked it off in the end zone.It was Rodgers’ first interception since Sept. 30 against Buffalo, ending an NFL-record streak of 402 pass attempts without an interception.“I feel pretty good about the way I’ve taken care of the football this season,” Rodgers said. “We just haven’t made enough big plays over the year. That’s why the completion percentage is what it is, the yards-per-attempt is what it is, the touchdowns are where they’re at. That stuff is disappointing.” Remember not long ago when no one knew what a catch was? The debate about what pass interference is (or isn’t) is about to begin.Although NFL referees Tony Corrente and Ron Torbert said nothing changes for officials with pass interference now reviewable, it could have a huge impact on the game as Mike Florio addressed this morning. Al Riveron will determine that. The NFL’s senior vice president of officiating cited two plays that he would have overturned on replay: A non-call on Patriots cornerback Stephon Gilmore for pass interference on Rams receiver Brandin Cooks in Super Bowl LIII and a non-call on Chargers receiver Mike Williams for pushing off on Chiefs cornerback Kendall Fuller, who was called for defensive pass interference on the play.Riveron said the only feedback he has gotten from NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell or the Competition Committee since is “let’s get it right.”Officials held their annual clinic in Dallas this weekend Andy Isabella Jersey , and the media was allowed into the opening sessions when Riveron went through rules changes for 2019, using video examples. He saved pass interference for last.“Remember the magic words and live by them,” Riveron told officials about pass interference. “Clear and obvious. Visual. Clear and obvious. Visual. Significantly hinders. Remember those words, and then when we live by those words, we will succeed. Clear and obvious, that’s the standard for replay. This is part of the replay rule, and that’s the standard. Clear and obvious. Visual evidence. Significantly hinders.”Riveron first showed several examples of plays that might or might not have been called interference on the field. Most of the plays he showed were debatable, with Riveron saying whatever was called on the field would stand. He showed three different angles of a play from the Falcons-Bengals game, and said, “It’s not what we think. It’s not what our gut tells us. It’s what we can see clear and obvious. But again Brian Burns Jersey , that has nothing to do with the way we’re officiating on the field. That has not changed at all — at all. . . .Do I think it’s a foul? Yes. Can I prove it? No. Based on that shot, we will not change the ruling on the field. Does it smell? Does it look funny? Yes, it does. Again, clear and obvious.” He showed a play involving 49ers cornerback Ahkello Witherspoon against Seattle receiver Doug Baldwin and another play that had Lions cornerback Teez Tabor covering Vikings tight end Kyle Rudolph and said whatever was called on the field would stand.Riveron did not show the infamous play from the NFC Championship Game that prompted owners to follow the wishes of coaches and vote in instant replay for pass interference for 2019. Riveron, though, did show the two controversial plays he cited as examples of plays he would penalize from New York.He said Gilmore “grabs his hand and does not allow [Cooks] to get his hand up. That is a foul. So we would put one down on this. He significantly hinders the opponent’s opportunity to make a play on the ball. That is a foul.”Riveron also confirmed he would have penalized Williams for pushing off on Fuller, creating offsetting penalties and a replayed down. Instead of having the ball at the 1-yard line, the Chargers would have had another play from the 10 with eight seconds remaining.“We have a flag on the ground for defensive pass interference,” Riveron said. “. . .No. 1, we leave the flag on the ground. We do not have clear and obvious evidence that it’s not DPI. That contact right there http://www.panthersfootballauthentic.com/greg-little-jersey-authentic , that’s not clear and obvious that it’s not DPI. Then, additionally, we put a flag on the ground for OPI, which makes this an offset. So again, PI becomes reviewable aspect of the play. Remember this play.”Remember this: It is not what is clear and obvious to anyone except Riveron. He now is the judge on any reviewed interference play, and that surely will make for some debated rulings during the season.
